Homemade Pizza

One of the most universally loved foods, pizza is incredibly versatile. It’s a great way to use up those last bits of miss-matched cheeses, that little bit of extra sauce, and leftovers that wouldn’t be enough for a soup. You’d be surprised how little you need to make an amazing pizza. The raw dough can be refrigerated or frozen and will keep nicely.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1& 1/2 cups warm water

  • 2 tsps honey

  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast

  • 4 cups of flour

  • 2& 1/2 tsps sea salt

  • Olive oil

  • Flour for dusting

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a large bowl combine water, honey, and yeast and let stand 3min.

  2. In another bowl whisk the salt into the flour to disperse it evenly.

  3. Add 1/3 cup of the flour mixture to the yeast mixture at a time, starting with a spoon and then later with hands as it gets thicker.

  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface. Wash your large bowl and coat the inside with olive oil.

  5. Knead the dough until smooth. Put it into the oiled bowl and turn it to coat the dough in oil. Cover with a cloth and let it rise, approximately 1 & 1/2 Hrs.

  6. Oil a rimmed baking sheet(s).

  7. Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface and separate it into 2 balls. Roll the ball to the size and shape of your baking sheet, repeat if making 2 pizzas.

  8. Place pizza on oiled pan, and let rise 30min.

  9. Preheat your oven to 450.

  10. Prepare your pizza toppings: shred cheese, cup ingredients to small bite sized pieces, etc.

  11. Top your pizza.

  12. Bake approximately 30min, till the dough is golden brown.
