What is the Feet First System and how can it help me?

The Feet First System is a program developed by Michelle Greenwell almost two decades ago, to assist her with her fallen arches and the pain that plagued every step she took while walking. Studying Touch for Health, Michelle learnt about the gaits and how they support the body’s ability to coordinate walking through the whole body. By rubbing a few points on the top of the foot, she was able to coordinate the arm/leg swing and flow, and release the pain in her feet. It was the most freeing moment of discovery, and the impetus for a full system to develop.

Beginning with the gaits, Michelle quickly realized that by adding a few more rubs to the foot, she could release blocked energy flow in the toes, open up the joints, bring flexibility to the foot, strength the foot muscles and create a lighter and freer foot. Set 1 of the system was born. From this humble beginning, Michelle was passed information from specialized kinesiology practitioners and instructors who knew other systems and techniques. Michelle began compiling this information and within a short time Set 2 was born. Testing the tools on her dancers, Michelle was quickly able to realize this system had extensive influence. By using either Set 1 or Set 2 or both, she could increase the height of a jump by several inches, she could provide more power in the foot to extend practice time or performance time, she could release tension in a muscle and improve flexibility, she could change the reaction time of a muscle and provide for more finite positions or speed of reaction – for tap dancers, this created a better sound from their shoes as well as a crisper execution of a movement. And, it was easy!

Upon entering university to study more about the techniques and apply them through Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Akamai University in Hilo, Hawaii, Michelle spent one whole course devoted to the tips and tools of the system. At the end of the course she had created 54 videos of techniques that could help others creating healing and happiness from the feet up the body, as well as the two full sets of protocols. Publishing these techniques in her two books: “My Little Black Book of Energy” and “My Little Black Book of Qi: Qi YINtegration Set 1,” Michelle has been able to reach a wide audience with her foot tools.

On her website are several specialty videos prepared with full explanations and details, these can be found in the shop.

If you are not sure where to begin with your health and wellness initiatives, check out the Feet First Friday addition to the ICH BLOG, where there is a new video released each week.

By changing one habit, or adding a new habit, you can make a big difference over time. This summer, enjoy your walking on the trails, in the sand, or in the garden. Make each set count and make it happy!
